Arrival at Staging Area

All racers must arrive at the staging area located at Denton Reed Recreation Park, on Clifton Street in Unadilla, NY between 9 AM - 11:00 AM for check-in and safety inspection. Please arrive on time as check-in will close promptly at 11 AM. Parking can be found at 9 Sperry Street.

Check-In Process

Racers will proceed to the check-in table at Denton Reed Recreation Park, on Clifton Street. During check-in, racers will confirm their registration, ensure all required forms have been signed, and verify that the entry fee has been paid. This is also when racers will receive their racing number.

Once check-in is completed, racers will proceed to the inspection area, at Denton Reed Recreation Park, where their race vehicles will undergo inspection.

Vehicle and Driver Inspection

Race vehicles and drivers will be inspected according to the vehicle rules. Please ensure you have reviewed the vehicle specifications and racer rules ahead of time to confirm compliance. Car will be measured from nose of the car to the back wheel ground contact point.

Upon passing inspection, the race vehicle will receive an inspection sticker, which should be affixed in a visible location on the vehicle. If a race vehicle does not pass inspection, it will be pulled from the line. If the issue can be resolved, the vehicle may be returned to the end of the line for re-inspection. If it cannot be remedied, the vehicle will be removed from the staging area and excluded from the race. The decision of the inspectors is final.

You will receive an inspection sticker on your car once it has passed inspection.

Welcome, Introduction, and National Anthem

After check-in and inspection, there will be a welcome ceremony and the national anthem will be sung. This time also allows spectators to get a closer look at the race vehicles, judges to assess vehicle style, and for racers to meet one another, grab a bite to eat, purchase event merchandise, and use the restrooms.

Starting Line Procedure

After the national anthem, race vehicles will be transported or towed to the starting area. Racers may be accompanied by an assistant, although assistants are not required. Once at the starting line, race officials will secure the race vehicles in place.

  • Adult Division: Starts from the top of the hill on a ramp, with possible speeds up to 37 mph
  • Teen Division: Starts near the top of the hill (but not on ramps), with likely speeds up to 33 mph
  • Kids Division: Starts halfway down the hill, with expected speeds of 20 mph

All racers will go down the hill two at a time.

Important Note for Racers

All racers are encouraged to test their vehicles before the race to ensure the steering and brakes are functioning properly. Find a local hill to practice on, and make sure to have at least two spotters with you. Avoid interfering with road traffic during your practice runs.

Race Rules and Safety

  • Race vehicles are considered to have crossed the finish line when the front nose crosses the line.
  • No crossing the center line. If a cart crosses the line separating the lanes, that racer will be penalized five seconds.
